Antibacterial soaps - DIY travel antibacterial soaps

The first pandemic caused by Coronavirus (COVID-19) affected our daily routine and caused dramatic changes in our lives worldwide.

Until now 14th of March 2020 there is no vaccine to prevent this disease except to take precautions to prevent get exposed to the virus.

The first precaution meter by Official announcements  is to wash our hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after we have been in a public place, or after blowing our nose, coughing, or sneezing.

Since it is not always easy to carry with you a big soap, I will show you how I made my antibacterial travel soap bars for me, my family and friends. It is also a great way to be plastic free from plastic bottles of liquid soap.

It’s a nice and easy gift and it will help us all be safe when we cannot find a soap to wash our hands or a hand sanitizer.

At Estia soaps we use 100% pure essential oils and we have three soaps that contain strong antibacterial pure essential oils that will naturally protect your hands while washing them.

Four pure essential oils that have antibacterial properties are:

  • Lemongrass (MINTHI contains Lemongrass & Peppermint pure essential oils)
  • Peppermint
  • Geranium (EROS contains Geranium pure essential oil)
  • Orange (GAIA contains Sweet Orange & Neroli pure essential oils)

The above information comes from NCBI

*Please be careful that we refer to 100% pure essential oils and not fragrances. Make sure to read ingredients if you purchase a soap that for example says it has peppermint that it is the pure essential oil and not a synthetically made fragrance.

Now to the fun part!

For my first diy travel soaps I used MINTHI since it has both Lemongrass & Peppermint pure essential oils. Of course, our travel soaps are made in unique small cube molds. Have a look here

You will need a Cook’s knife, Minthi (or an antibacterial soap of your choice), rice paper (or a piece of cloth ) a ribbon (I used jute natural ribbon)

I cut the soap in half. I will keep the big side at home and will cut the rest in smaller pieces.

The result is mini cubes like sugar cubes. Easy to carry in a bag or even in your pocket.

I decided to make mine look like candy, but you can use your imagination and make your own packaging.

Stay safe, wash your hands and embrace this new reality so we can all be safe!
